Dance is Life

August 09th, 2010 // Art, Birth, Dance, Events, Feminine-ist, Love, Oneness, Shanti Uganda, Spirit, Vancouver, Wellness

All forms of art are a direct connection to source energy that allow us to be inspired (or in-spirit) and there is something magic in the creative self-expression of dance. It moves through us and we literally become art and an expression of the divine. It is one of my greatest passions as I grew up in leotards and ballet slippers.

Please join us in the celebration of The Shanti Uganda Birth House on August 29th with an evening of dance and music. You can purchase tickets online here.

A huge thanks to my great friend Rosalee for this fun video interview with me at Folk Fest talking a bit more about Shanti Uganda and our beautiful projects.

Love well,

Companies with Conscience: What’s your passion?

June 23rd, 2010 // Events, Fashion, Lifeline Technique

Happy belated Summer Solstice everyone! I love the changes in season; they gift me with the opportunity to reflect on the macro and micro cycles of life and nature. This year I was blessed to teach a summer solstice meditation to some of my yoga students. The longest day of the year is an opportunity to celebrate the life giving, creative power of the sun and the element of fire: passion. I asked each person in class, ‘What’s your passion?’ I love witnessing people when they begin to share about this. They light up with energy, a literal fire. Passion, like the sun is a life giving creative force that exists within each one of us. It is what propels us through life with enthusiasm, vitality and purpose. If passion lies dormant, we feel lethargic and sometimes perceive life through lenses of meaninglessness. Each of our passions is important and valuable to this world. When we ignite the internal sun of our heart, it gives our life meaning and purpose.

What does a life lived passionately on purpose look like?

On my trip home from teaching, I was wearing my favorite shoes: red Toms. I love when I wear them and see others in transit with a pair. It is similar to a biker’s right of passage as they cross on the highway, we share a smile and nudge towards each others feet knowing we have much more in common than aesthetics or need for comfort in footwear. We share values and we exercise our will power by choosing to support companies that have a social conscience. If you have not yet heard about Toms, their promise is one for one: for every pair purchased, they give a pair to a child in need, pretty awesome vision!

Vancouver companies with a conscience continually inspire me. Local giant, lululemon led the way positioned as a lifestyle brand. People leave lululemon stores with more than great pants to stretch and work out in. They leave with tools for life. I am a huge fan of a new, budding local design agency, Briggs Strategy and Design. Owner, Heather Briggs is a bright star, overflowing with a passion for helping socially conscious people and businesses translate their products and services into a tangible vision and ultimate success. I am infinitely thankful to her for being the gifted visionary facilitating the creation of my own brand, logo and website. One of my favorite local designers, Nicole Bridger, was recently voted Eco-Designer of the year. She makes beautiful clothing that embraces both style and our planet. Each of her garments is also tagged with her signature ‘I am love’. Her passion is to help people by providing beautiful, environmentally conscious clothing that we can feel good about purchasing and feel loved wearing.

A life lived passionately on purpose does not necessarily mean we all start a business. These are some great examples of people who had a vision. Their intention was more than profit. It was contributing to the growth of our planet. Success and prosperity are the benefits of trusting this passion will nourish you. When we build our lives from a place of passion, we move beyond survival mode, where we experience fear there won’t be enough to eat if we don’t do business to a place of thriving.

What is my passion? I have many! One of my biggest passions is helping people awaken to the fullness of their true nature through the process of the Lifeline Technique. If you would like to learn more about it, I am hosting an open house tomorrow at 8-4424 Main Street. See you there!

Love well,
